At Brisbane, visitors and parties! 18June2010

Here we are in Brisbane recovering from overindulging last night; basically the girls drank everything!  We arrived here yesterday after our sedate passage up through The Broadwater and parked ourselves stern to in B row at the ‘Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron’, as close to the bar as the marina manager (David) could manage; excellent management.  After the obligatory ablutions we retired to said bar where we were joined by Marie of El Karim fame.  The skipper met Marie at Coffs Harbour in 2007 when on the way home from New Caledonia where she was living on her big and beautiful ketch ‘El Karim’; built for the Aga Khan and appointed to match.  Marie is also a great chef and likes a party so after eating the rather grouse food prepared as we were coming in we proceeded to drink everything available, culminating in Gini finding the Vodka.  It was very noisy, very messy and isn’t Gini sorry today, but she looked lovely hugging that bucket this morning.   We will probably be here this evening, recovery and all and then off tomorrow for Mooloolaba.  We then have the option of the ‘Great Sandy Strait’ behind Fraser Island, or go straight around Fraser Island and head north ASAP.  Either way we need some miles under the keel and get up to Islands, beaches and warm water.

Hi Caroline, yea cosy and fun. Moving tomorrow and try to get a lot of miles under the keel this week coming. What part of the coast were you thinking you would like to see? How is it going in Melbourne and we are hearing it is a bit coolish? Talk soon.
